The beginnings of Pelikan trace back to the chemist Carl Hornemann, who made his customers an offer for oil paints, watercolours and for so called "farbige Dinten" - coloured inks, on April 28, 1838. 

Famous for their piston filler fountain pens, and striped barrels made of cellulose acetate, Pelikan embody German excellence.
