The Platinum President Fountain Pen is slightly larger than the 3776 Century, offering you a comfortable grip as well as their proprietary “Slip & Seal” Mechanism which prevents the pen from drying out, even when not being used daily.

In the 1960s, when the Japanese economy took off, inexpensive and practical fountain pens could no longer satisfy the growing desire of customers for fine writing instruments. To enhance the value and collectability of fountain pens, Platinum decided to create a pen nib made of gold. After three years of trial and error, Platinum finally launched its first fountain pen with a 18k gold nib – Platinum 18 in 1962. It was a great success and Platinum 18 became the perfect choice as a luxurious gift pen. Since then, other Japanese companies followed Platinum’s footstep to produce pens with 18k and then even 21k, 22k and 23k gold nibs.

Today, the Platinum 18 is no longer produced anymore, but you may look towards the Platinum President Fountain Pen for an excellent 18k gold nib pen.
